There is much to look into in relation to the Christian and the State but the focus here is on a relatively technocratic view of governing society through Christian values. Augustine's City of God is looked at for both the differentiation of the city of god and city of man and the role of the Christian within the latter. Calvin instituted a governance model in Geneva that was effective but not without issue. Lastly, the theology / philosophy of theonomy is explored for their take on how the kingdom of God is manifested through some melding with secular government.

The Foundation series by Isaac Asimov gives a very good picture of what soft technocracy looks like, and even how it compares with and pairs with more material and openly structured technocracy. As with the book covered in the previous episode, Brave New World, The Foundation has more recently been made into a TV series. These are not a replacement for the books and definitely skim over many of the main points that get brought out of the books. Enjoy.

Plato's Republic is the proto model for technocracy. He takes us from the more material and hierarchical perspective to something more all encompassing. His view is more philosophic and focused on societies as a whole vs Machiavelli, Orwell, and Bentham who focused more on smaller groups of people under a specific ruler or party. I get into eugenics, rule by experts, the role of children, and much more.

There was more to cover related to scientism and more to introduce on the subject of technocracy. For Scientism, it is mostly the issue of the is-ought problem. Science provides knowledge but Scientism claims to provide wisdom through determining an ought from the is of scientific discovery. The writings of William Henry Smyth are explored as I continue to delve into the roots of Scientism. He is reportedly the first to use the term technocracy and his writings give a lot of insight into the rise of the secular religion of scientism. It's a mix of sociology, philosophy, and historical patterns. After this, I get into the religion of Scientism itself. The aspects that define it as a religion are outlined and a lot of the connections between Scientism and the other secular religions are highlighted.

Scientism as a secular religion is introduced in this episode but it quickly turns back to the roots of the movement. This brings us to Plato's Republic and specifically the aspects of how Plato generates the first known model for what is now technocracy. The Christian concept of discipleship is key to understanding how the early Church put their beliefs into action. It is also a concept that voluntaryists, agorists, and like minded groups should take note of. There are two components- both to be discipled and to disciple others. Both are based on relationships and both involve action. Strategy for which types of civil disobedience to partake in is also touched on. This is also drawn from the principles of the early Church, the role of suffering, the effect of martyrdom, moral superiority, and similar points.

There are many strategies for achieving more liberty in our lives and in society writ large that do not involve participating in immoral systems or means. The first discussed is agorism and the counter economy. Next is the Second Realm perspective with TAZ's (temporary autonomous zones), pseudonyms, crypto anarchy, and proxy merchants. Vonu is next (VOluntary Not vUlnerable) with a focus on self sufficiency and building resilience from the coercion of the State. Mutual aid groups and mutual assistance groups are brought up following that. The next strategy comes from Vaclav Benda and Vaclav Havel out of the Charter 77 movement. This is the Parallel Polis strategy that defines the building out of a parallel society through a list of "pillars" of the Parallel Polis. Finally, I mention the original Church and their strategy of building out a parallel society as a response to their opposition to being involved with the State (Rome), mainstream culture, and the dominant institutional religion (Judaism).

There is a definite difference between secular agorism and the kingdom of God. I some ways, they are opposites, as the kingdom of man is the opposite of the kingdom of God. In other ways, they are extremely similar such as in strategy and principle. There is also a way to combine the two into Christian Agorism. Light is representative of the side of the Natural Order we are to pursue and it should also be representative of us. Going back to the example of the Early Church, this episode looks at some of their writings for references to being light. Here is The Natural Order, defined. Since the term has been used a lot on this show and since it is the basis for all morality and reality, it seemed like an important topic to address. This first episode on The Natural Order is focused on the Light Side of the Order. The principles include Life, Love, Sacrifice, Cycles, Progression, Causality, Hierarchy, Differentiation, and Order. There is much more elaboration and explanation to draw out what these really mean and examples of how they express themselves in our reality, whether in nature, in humanity, in history, and other examples. The next episode will cover the Dark Side and some further expansion of the framework of The Natural Order.

There is always an inherent conflict between idealism and reality. The early church had a philosophy of seeking the ideal but at the same time, they lived in a reality that was far from it. We find ourselves in a similar position today. When related to political philosophy, anarcho-capitalism provides a way to have structure, incentive systems, organization, and governance without directly contradicting a morality of voluntaryism. However, this system is not perfect and still is not the ultimate ideal.

Welcome to Season 3. This first episode covers the concept of the Kingdom of God. This is the beginning of setting the stage for the exploration and comparison of the Early Church to modern alternative movements. As with voluntaryism, agorism, anarchism, libertarianism, etc., the Kingdom of God concept is based on a set of values and a foundation that the ideology is then built on. The Kingdom of God, like these other movements is a kingdom within a kingdom, a system within a system. This episode focuses on the more philosophical and theological side of the foundations then later episodes will focus on the more practical application and historical apects.

As we shift into new models of profit and control, technology is being used to facilitate these changes. Blockchain technology in particular allows for the digitalization and tokenization of all things and pairs perfectly with a merger of the physical and technological. One example taking place now is impact investing and social impact bonds. These in a sense allow for the commodification of individuals and creates a market for building up a "human portfolio" that can be invested in, gamified, and potentially shorted. We talk about these things and much more.

Julianne Romanello has been very in tune with shifts occurring in the education system. These have been toward job training, through public/ private partnerships, and away from classically liberal "true" education. Her background is in political philosophy and teaching. This first section of the interview covers how she discovered the technocratic agenda and philosophical issues behind these moves. This is the first elaboration episode on part 3 of the Vin Armani Dim Age interview. There is a good bit on the theories and archetypes of Sarkar with some connections to my Ages of Man framework and the Fourth Turning framework. Worked in are how the archetypes interact between each other in each age and how the role of dominance is manifested. Next is the Church of Woke, AKA The Kingdom of Darkness and how this compares to the Kingdom of Light. This includes more on the concept of the Logos and the contrast between an individualistic mindset and a communal mindset. There is also the contrast between the natural and the man-manipulated. Of course, the material vs the mystical is explored further as well.
